Some people nag about the fact that I’m shooting a lot of improvised stuff and don’t understand why. This post is why…
A couple of weeks ago I had a sudden urge to shoot on location somewhere at night, or something. No real idea or concept just the urge to make something. I get this quite a lot and some of these shoots really work out well and some no so well. But hey… if you don’t throw the rock you’re never going to hit anything.
So we did and I called up Charlotte (@models office) if she wanted to shoot and together with a friend we rode out into the country…
and we ended up in a bar… (no gravity involved)
But this was a cool bar which had a real american diner feel to it. A little over the top, but I like that.
Not much styling and make-up later we were shooting and this is what rolled out of the camera.
[Tech:: as you might have noticed in the pictures there wasn’t all that much ambient light in the bar. So we pumped up the iso and added a softbox(apollo) with a speedlite in it that was gelled orange to match some of the interior lighting. We shot the entire thing on ETTL II remote mode because we could only shoot for less than 40 mins]
Pumping up the ISO ever more we also shot some available light shots enjoying the benefits of the 85L 1.2.

Sterke sfeer zet je hier neer, dat oranje werkt erg goed. Vooral de eerste en de laatste foto zijn prachtig…
Coole beelden, mooie locatie.
Iets te oranje voor mij maar dat is persoonlijke smaak.
Good job!
Leuke eerste! Pose past volledig in dit beeld!
