For Voka’s internship programme I spent the last two months travelling the all over the country visiting every kind of company imaginable. Including our Flemish Fish Auction in Zeebrugge.
Some jobs take more commitment then others. I am by no means a morning person so a 2am wake-up call (no typo) is quite hefty for me. But it was all worth it. It’s amazing to see al the containers and fishing boats coming in and the fish being sorted and rated. You’d be amazed of all the sorts of fish that were out there. To the contrary to what I though not all local fishing boats are coasting around our local shores. Some of them are in Scandinavia while others are all the way at the other side of Europa near the gulf of Biscay. The fish is then brought here via a lorry. So the species on display were literally from all over the place.
One of the most fascinating places I visited all summer. I did smell of fish during the next few days.
