Some time ago I had the chance to do a supercool shoot with American basketball player Mike Rose. The shoot was organized two days in advance and there was no time to scout, or work out a concept so we went improv-style. for this shoot I already had some locations in mind. Places I’ve shot before, I admit but the first location has so many cool angles, you can use it a bunch of times.
I decided to move away from the official athlete portrait look, in official colours and all and decide to go with a more urban style. Think “playing ball on a small court in the Bronx or something”. Antwerp North was the most Bronx-ish place I could find nearby so thats where we went to shoot. Anyway here’s wat it looked like
I chose the second location because I liked the brick wall pattern, the concrete floor in combination with the clothes Mike was wearing.

Red isn’t the easiest color to photograph…
The portrait that I like the most is the sitting one.
Maybe total symetric would be perfect (ball / guy …) But now I’m “f*ckin’ ants” ;o)
If you need another Mike R. for a shoot, you have my email address 😉
I like ‘m all! Nice work!
Could you please explain in detail what this means:
and I Quote:
“the fist location has so many cool angles, you can use it a bunch of times”
’cause if you don’t explain well, I’ll never come near you again 😉
Just kidding
