It’s no secret. I think stormtroopers are the coolest looking fiction characters out there. So a few months ago I photographed the famous stormtrooper from the “sad stormtrooper’ shot again. This time not at a bar but in the studio. I used hard spots and stripboxes to create a very hard look.
After the shoot I released my inner Imperial stormtrooper and had a go myself.
This is what the set-up looked like. I used 3 Profoto D1 heads. one strip box and gridded and covered a regular softbox up with cinefoil to create a second stripbox (because at the time I the second stripbox was still in backorder :-)) To make it a look even more contrasty I used a Profoto Zoom reflector as a keylight.
